Type Locality and Naming

It was named by the Zhejiang Party of Regional Geological Survey (1966). The type section is at Kangshan, Anji County in northwest Zhejiang Province (the Zhejiang Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, 1989).

Synonym: (康山组)


Lithology and Thickness

The formation, 2073 m in thickness at the type section, consists of yellow green, grayish white and occasionally purplish red silty pelite, siltstone and micritic sandstone.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

The Kangshan Fm is conformably underlain by the Dabaidi Fm

Upper contact

The Kangshan Fm is conformably overlain by the Tangjiawu Fm

Regional extent

It can be observed mainly in northwest Zhejiang Province.

Fossils

It is extremely rare in fossils, and the only finds include fish fragments and brachiopod Lingula.
